DRIFTING
Silent and introverted, Yan is bullied by his peers and treated like an outsider. Because he was born illegally as a second child under China’s one-child policy, his parents raised him as a girl and hid their elder daughter in the countryside. Now a young adult, Yan struggles with his gender identity. He doesn’t say a word, but his anger toward society seethes inside him. The only escape he can find is to drift around deserted parking lots in his father’s old taxicab.
