UPPER LIP

Tamara, an Israeli girl, is about to turn 12. In preparation for her bat mitzvah, her mother takes her to the beauty salon to get her eyebrows done for the first time. When the painful procedure starts, the girl tries to resist, but her mother and the other women in the salon hold her down as she kicks and screams. This bittersweet look at traditional standards of beauty offers an appeal for female self-determination.
