NEON PHANTOM
They said it’d be like in a musical. All you’d have to do was work hard and everything would eventually be fine. But nothing has changed for João and his fellow bicycle couriers. They deliver food whether they’re sick or well, in all kinds of weather, for a pittance. Even though they dress in dayglow colors, they are little more than phantoms on two wheels to most people.

Leonardo Martinelli
Leonardo Martinelli is a short-film director from Rio de Janeiro. His work has been screened at more than 300 film festivals and museums around the world, including Locarno, San Sebastián, and BFI London. In 2020, several critics at the film portal Papo de Cinema voted him one of the 10 best new Brazilian filmmakers. In 2021, his film FANTASMA NEON earned a Golden Leopard in the International Short Film Competition at the Locarno Film Festival.
