Who will turn out to be the ideal spectator? Crying in public is, at any rate, not allowed. Better to put a lid on one’s emotions like the young woman in Hong Kong whose mother died and who now must finally get a job and make something of herself. There is hope that things will change, though also shock and surprise at the depths of depravity revealed in the anonymous world of online forums.
