The Preselection Jury 2022

Every year so many short films are submitted for Filmschoolfest that we ask an independent, highly qualified jury to sift through them and determine those that will screen in our official program. In 2022, there were about 290 submissions from 42 different countries, of which between 40 and 55 will end up being shown on the big screen at our festival between November 13 and 19. We are very happy about the many filmmakers who sent us their entries and hereby thank the three people who will decide this week which of the films will be screened at the 41st FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH.

Profile Picture Ruairi Mccann

Ruairí McCann is an Irish writer, curator and musician, Belfast born and based but raised in County Sligo. He was an apprentice programmer for the Belfast Film Fest 2021 and Docs Ireland 2022, and a short film programmer for the Dublin International Film Festival 2022. He's an editor for the international film and music website and collective Ultra Dogme and has written for such publications as photogénie, Electric Ghost, Screen Slate, Mubi Notebook and Sight & Sound.

Guadalupe Figueras is a media artist, writer and filmmaker born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, currently living between Miami and Mexico. She holds M.A. in Curatorial Studies in New Media from School of Design in Barcelona, Spain, and an M.A. in Arts, Philosophy and Social Practice from the European Graduate School. She develops projects that cross boundaries across media genres, visual languages, technologies and platforms. She has worked in many capacities in international cultural events such as the Miami International Film Festival, Art Basel Miami Beach, Loop Video Art Fair and The Influencers in Barcelona, Spain. Figueras is a recipient of an Oolite Arts’ Ellie award for a digital archive/streaming channel for queer content. She is currently writing her first novel and works for the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami.

Mathias Barkhausen Farbe

Mathias Barkhausen studied Media Studies and German Literature at the
Rhenish Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn and Charles University in Prague.
During and after his studies, he worked for a number of German film festivals,
including Berlinale and FILMFEST MÜNCHEN, as a program coordinator and moderator. Since 2021, Mathias has curated film programs and retrospectives at Zeughauskino, the cinematheque of the German Historical Museum in Berlin.
