The Preselection Jury 2020
This year’s contributions to FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH were, as always, chosen by a independent preselection jury. The jury had to watch 242 international schort films and decide, which of those will be part oft he final 50 in the competition. The preselection jury 2020: Peter Azen, Ksenia Reutova and Sandra Engler.
Peter Azen is a Brazilian filmmaker, video-artist, performer, curator and photographer that lives and works in New York City. In 2012, Peter co-founded Illium Pictures, a collective of award-winning writers, directors, editors, producers, and cinematographers based in Brooklyn, New York. From 2014 to 2016 Peter was the film curator for the Brazilian Endowment for the Arts in New York City. Over the past eight years, Peter worked constantly on completing various short and feature length films. Peter's films have been shown at festivals, independent theaters, museums and galleries throughout the World. Twice he was a guest at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN presenting his films BLACK WAVE 2018 and CALIDRIS 2019.
Ksenia Reutova is an independent journalist, film critic and curator based in St. Petersburg, Russia. She is a regular contributor to KinoPoisk, Kinoafisha, Germania-online, Colta.ru and other Russian media. Between 2013 and 2015 she was a curator of the Russian-German Film Forum "KinoHafen" in Hamburg. Since 2011 she works as a consultant for the German Film Festival in St. Petersburg organized by the Goethe-Institut.
Sandra Engler majored in Film, Theatre and Media Studies at University of Vienna, Austria. She has been a part of various theatre productions, street happenings, and essay compilations in Germany, Austria, Spain, and the USA. For the last few years, she has contributed to the festival circuit in different positions: at Miami Film Festival, San Sebastián Film Festival, Sevilla Film Festival, among many others, she has been a program manager, guest liaison, jury member, moderator, and usher. She lives wherever the next festival takes her.
