Le Fresnoy is a postgraduate art and research center for audiovisual media, founded in Tourcoing near Lille in 1997. The students’ theoretical and practical work deals with traditional media such as photography and cinema, but also with new technological developments in the digital realm. The students are supervised in their projects by artists who take on a one- to two-year teaching position at Le Fresnoy. The work they produce is presented in an exhibition every September. Guest lecturers have included Jean-Luc Godard, Chantal Akerman and Harun Farocki.
