The Jury 2019
The jury president of this year's FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH is director Anca Miruna Lăzărescu. The former HFF student celebrated the release of her Netflix's series WE ARE THE WAVE on November 1. The series can now be streamed in 190 countries.
Her HFF graduation film SILENT RIVER was already a big success: After its premiere at the Berlinale Shorts in 2011, the film was invited to over 300 festivals around the world and won more than 80 awards. Lăzărescus feature film debut THAT TRIP WE TOOK WITH DAD celebrated its premiere at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2016, where it was awarded a German Cinema New Talent Award (special prize). She received a Grimme Award for her series HACKERVILLE (2018) produced by HBO. In early 2019, her second feature film GLÜCK IST WAS FÜR WEICHEIER was released nationwide and was bought by Amazon.
During a Masterclass on Friday, November 22, Anca Miruna Lăzărescu will speak on the topic HOW TO DIRECT AN ORIGINAL NETFLIX SERIES. Together with Second Unit Director Mihnea Rareș Hanțiu she will speak about the opportunities and challenges of producing with Netflix and about her own experiences from shooting WE ARE THE WAVE.
The film THAT TRIP WE TOOK WITH DAD will be shown at the Filmmuseum on Saturday, 23 November at 2:30 PM in the presence of the director (THE JURY PRESENTS...).

Djamila Grandits lives and works in Vienna. She works for various cultural projects in the field of production, conception and equipment, as well as host of panels, film talks and events. Her projects include the realisation and conception of Kaleidoskop - Film&Freiluft, co-curation at frameout - digital summer screenings and from 2016 to 2018 the artistic direction of this human world - International Human Rights Film Festival.
Hannu-Pekka Peltomaa is a Finnish filmmaker. His graduation film from the Film School Helsinki ROSE GARDEN was screened at the Filmschoolfest 2018 and was awarded the Panther Prize for Best Production.
Letizia Gullo is an Italian documentary film director who works in Italy and France. At the documentary film school "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia" in Palermo she teaches workshops with young refugees and students.
Roberto Blatt comes from Uruguay, studied in Israel and now lives and works in Spain. After many years in TV Content & Development (ChelloMulticanal) and co-producing award-winning documentaries, he is currently developing his own international co-production documentary film project and writing a script for a feature film. He is also a long-standing member of the European Documentary Network and gives various master courses on documentary film and digital thematic channels.
