Short Profile
The International Festival of Film Schools was established in 1981. It is now one of the most important festivals for young filmmakers in the world.
About 60 films are presented at the festival annually. Each year approximately 100 foreign students and professors have the opportunity to meet, enter into discussions and share their experiences with each other. When surveyed, members of the International Film School Association confirmed that the Filmschoolfest Munich enjoys great popularity among its participants.

The Munich International Festival of Filmschools is held annually by the Internationale Münchner Filmwochen GmbH.
The IMF is a non-profit company jointly owned by
- The Free State of Bavaria, represented by the Minister President
- The City of Munich, represented by the Lord Mayor
- SPIO - the "umbrella organisation" of the German film industry, represented by its President
- Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Broadcasting), represented by its Director General
