We’re delighted to welcome award-winning German director Julia von Heinz as jury chairperson at the upcoming edition of FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH. Her latest feature film, AND TOMORROW THE ENTIRE WORLD, celebrated its world premiere in competition this year at the Venice International Film Festival. A few days ago, it celebrated its German premiere as the opening film at the Hof International Film Festival. The film will be released in theaters across Germany on October 29.

Von Heinz’s debut film, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS, was already a huge hit: screened in the “Perspektive Deutsches Kino” section at the Berlinale, it received the German Film Award for best children’s film in 2009. That same year, von Heinz received the Bavarian Film Award for her documentary film NOBLE COMMITMENTS. Her other feature films HANNI AND NANNI 2, HANNA’S JOURNEY, and I’M OFF THEN, as well as her TV movie LUTHER AND I, drew an audience of millions to movie theaters and television screens in Germany.

Alongside her work as a director, Julia von Heinz is also busy training the next generation of filmmakers. From 2014 to 2015, she was a visiting professor at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. After several years of teaching at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), she and her colleague Marcus H. Rosenmüller are now chairing the HFF program “Directing Feature Films and TV Movies” from the start of winter semester 2020/21.

As an active filmmaker and professor of film directing, Julia von Heinz is an ideal jury chair who along with her four international jury colleagues will undoubtedly do an excellent job.
