FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH goes worldwide
FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH is being held worldwide as a digital festival from November 12 to 22
This year there will be no queue: FILMSCHOOLFEST goes online!
FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH is going online! A partnership with the streaming platform Pantaflix will make it possible to watch the complete program of films worldwide. This year actually marks the 40th anniversary of FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH. But as with so many things this year, the coronavirus prevents us from holding a proper live anniversary celebration in Munich with international attendees. That’s why this year’s edition of the festival is being extended by three days and held digitally as FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH 39 ½ from November 12 to 22, 2020.
Diana Iljine, festival director: “FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH thrives on young filmmakers from all over the world coming to Munich and publicly presenting their films to a large audience. Although the current situation prevents this, we will, even this year, be offering talented young directors a large and exciting platform on which to showcase their skills. This is precisely what our digital festival will enable. We are happy to have Pantaflix Technologies on board, a strong partner with whom we can carry out this festival online — worldwide, even!”
The selection committee, consisting of Brazilian filmmaker Peter Azen, Russian film critic Ksenia Reutova, and Spanish media scholar Sandra Engler, has selected 50 films from 33 film schools in 21 countries from among 242 submissions. The feature, documentary, animated, and experimental films will vie in the international competition for awards having a total value of 35,000 euros.
In addition to the international competition, the special “Climate Clips” competition (having a total of 9,000 euros in prize money) on the subject of climate change returns, as do the HFF Specials (selected productions from the Munich University of Television and Film) and a supporting program.
The program of FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH 39 ½ will be announced on October 22, 2020. We hope you can join us!
