Meet the Filmmakers: THE MOST PECULIAR AND HUMAN OF ALL EXPRESSIONS
Interview with director Scarlett Nimz
Director Scarlett Nimz
What would be the teaser text for your film THE MOST PECULIAR AND HUMAN OF ALL EXPRESSIONS?
Overwhelmed by the fear of fear, Rosa surrenders to her feelings and has a glimpse into her abyss.
Where does the inspiration for your film come from?
The inspiration for my film comes from my own experiences as a teenager and a young woman. There is still very little research about the fear of blushing and it has socially inhibited me for most of my life. I find it important to make people aware of this topic.
Which three people from film and television would you like to spend an evening with? Why? And what are you doing?
Spontaneously I can only think of one person - Emma Watson. I admire her very much for her social commitment and would like to hear how she manages to reconcile her job and her political goals.
What's your favorite film quote?
"We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of 30 and have less to offer each time we start with someone new." (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME)
For which film would you like to shoot the sequel?
Even though I'm not a big fan of sequels in general, I'd like to work on a sequel of THE LAST UNICORN. The dynamic lines of the animation and the deep melancholy of the film have always fascinated me.
What is your favourite film - officially and secretly?
To commit myself to just one film is unfortunately almost impossible. At the moment it would probably be something between AMELIE and CALL ME BY YOUR NAME. In the field of animation, old Disney movies like HERCULES and THE RESCUERS are what I like most.
