Meet the Filmmakers: TERROR
Interview with director Yonatan Shehoah
Director Yonatan Shehoah
Write a one-sentence teaser text for your film TERROR.
fear. blind. us.
Which film was the first to deeply impress you?
...it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. "The Matrix" (1999) - I still remember the first time I saw the film, it was epistemologically fascinating For the first time I felt that a movie was talking to me, making me feel inside the movie itself. The so-called "rupture of the fourth wall". Without a doubt, one of the reasons that influenced me to dedicate myself in this art, the fact of realizing how a film can influence someone's life in such a way.
Scene from TERROR
Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?
Without a doubt, ANTHONY HOPKINS. Watching him play, is an experience that one cannot forget. He becomes the character that he's portraying and is so believable that quite often I forget that it's actually him. There's always something going on beneath the surface, like a controlled rage. Regardless of the role he plays, he always touches me. I've loved his films ever since I was very young.
If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?
A lamb, fearfully trying to escape from the hungry wolves.
What do your grandparents think you do as a job?
I do not have grandparents, but when the older members of my family see my films, they always ask why the movie is too short. Apparently they do not know that filming a feature film requires much more than it seems.
Behind the Scenes of TERROR
What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?
I would surely go after another crazy vocation, like being an egyptologist or an astronaut or some other cool job.
Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the city and the festival?
Yes, it is my first visit to Munich. I expect good experiences, great films and to meet other filmmakers from around the world.
