Meet the Filmmakers: SWALLOW

Interview with director Anaïs Girard-Blanc

Meet the Filmmakers: SWALLOW

Director Anaïs Girard-Blanc

Write a one-sentence teaser text for your film SWALLOW.

Hirondelle distributes flyers for a vacuum cleaner company, when a passer-by accepts his flyer... the rise to the explosion begins!

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

"Clockwork Orange"?

What do your grandparents think you do as a job?

"Do you know my granddaughter? She works in cinema!" I think they are proud, even if they think that I'm an international famous director.

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

The actors of everyday life. When I walk down the street, I spot faces, steps. And I want to ask the people for their number, to keep their contact for a possible future film. I want to work with them because they don't know the potential of their attraction.

Scene from SWALLOW

If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?

Too easy. Swallow (Hirondelle in French)! A swallow that doesn't have time to spend the spring.

What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?

A traveler. Social traveler.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the city and the festival?

Yes, it is my first time in Munich. I hope I can still speak a little German :) And I hope the festival to be a place more of meetings than of competitions.
