Meet the Filmmakers: SIREN

Interview with director Zara Dwinger

Meet the Filmmakers: SIREN

Director Zara Dwinger

Write a one-sentence teaser text for your film SIREN.

When your true self comes knocking on your door and you're not sure if you want to open up.

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

I'm not sure, but maybe it was "8 1/2" by Fellini, because I was captivated by the way he played with a sad kind of nostalgia but in a playful, humorous way. Or maybe it was "The Lion King", when I was little, and was totally in awe when the dad appears in the clouds after I totally bawled my eyes out when he died.

A new TV series about studying film needs a title – which would you choose?

"How to Dream"

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

I absolutely love Cate Blanchett, I think she is one of the best actresses in the world today. She is able to transform into everything. Or Jack Nicholson, although I probably would be a little bit scared as well. But exactly that danger, that madness, I think that's great. Not many actors have this. A young actress who I love at the moment is Jessica Barden, who played in the series "The End of the F*cking World". I would love to work with her!
