Meet the Filmmakers: A FOREMAN

Interview with director Daniel Drummond

Meet the Filmmakers: A FOREMAN

Director Daniel Drummond

Write a one-sentence teaser text for your film A FOREMAN.

A woman caught between a rock and a hard place.

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

"The Godfather"

A new TV series about studying film needs a title – which would you choose?

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

I would love to keep working with the actors I've been fortunate to meet already. I think I've been unusually lucky in the insanely talented artists I've somehow managed to bring aboard my student projects. Piercey Dalton has become a regular collaborator of mine, and I think the best of that collaboration is yet to come. That said, a dream ensemble would also include Michael Shannon, Jake Gyllenhall, Michelle Williams, Robert Pattinson, Claire Foy, Ben Mendelsohn, Tony Servillo, Joel Edgerton, Ethan Hawke, Vincent Cassel and Gael Garcia Bernal. They all have a special place in my heart.

If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?

I have zero idea why "gazelle" was the first thing that came to mind. I can't make sense of it right now, but there must be a reason.

What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?

100% a biologist. Both my parents are and I would have had no problem following in their footsteps if filmmaking didn't seem to be working out. Fortunately, so far, it seems to be.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the city and the festival?

It is! I just hope to have time to explore the city, meet cool people, drink good beer, and watch some good movies in between.
