Interview with producer Engku M. Iqbal

Meet the Filmmakers: WHITE CARNATIONS

Producer Engku M. Iqbal

Describe your film WHITE CARNATIONS in three words.

Mother's patience's broken.

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

AMÉLIE! I really love the film's style and humour. Very beautifully crafted and rendered. And Audrey Tautou is amazing.

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

Cate Blanchett. One of my favourite actresses and she is very versatile as an actress.

If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?

A python. One of the most patient animals in the animal kingdom but beneath all that, you don’t know when they will attack.

What do your grandparents think you do as a job?

They are already deceased. They probably already know what I do from up there but if they were still around they would probably think that I’m doing some office job.

What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?

Amongst my other passions are science and technology, so it’ll probably be science or IT related.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the festival?

Yeah! I’m visiting on behalf of my Director, Wan Xin, who is unable to attend. I’m not sure what to expect, so surprise me! And I hope to connect with like minded people from around the world and be inspired.
