Meet the Filmmakers: NIGHT CALL

Interview with director Amanda Renee Knox

Director Amanda Renee Knox

Describe your film NIGHT CALL in three words.

Honest, gripping, heartbreaking.

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

JULIA, PLATOON, THE PIANO and THE HURT LOCKER.

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

I would love to work with any actor that has unbridled emotional range and is willing to swing from the fences with me. Someone unafraid to take risks in their work. I have always loved Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner.

If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?

A panther.

What do your grandparents think you do as a job?

My grandmother knows that I direct but I'm not sure she knows exactly what that entails.

What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?

An explorer. I love the outdoors and I love to hike.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the festival?

Yes, I'm so happy to be here! I am really looking forward to meeting all of the filmmakers and watching their films and getting to experience Munich.
