Meet the Filmmakers: MANLY MOUNTAIN OF MEN

Interview with director Karolin Twiddy

Meet the Filmmakers: MANLY MOUNTAIN OF MEN

Director Karolin Twiddy

Describe your film MANLY MOUNTAIN OF MEN in three words.

Sexy, goofy, pastel.

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

That's a good and hard question. As a kid I watched a lot of TV. It might have been HOOK with Robin Williams, LABYRINTH with David Bowie or THE LION KING. Cartoon films have always felt magic to me.

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

Probably Jim Carrey. I study Animation and I know that he loves to paint. He might be in for a cartoon project. In general, I would love to work with a comedian. I usually enjoy making films, that are fun to watch. When someone laughs while watching my film, it's the best compliment.

If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?

A crocodile during mating season.

What do your grandparents think you do as a job?

I believe my grandfather thinks I study painting or art. Even though I did explain to him what I do, I don't think he remembers. I will show him my tumblr and vimeo pages this christmas.

What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?

Sexologist, or couples therapist. Or I would study industrial design.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the festival?

I have been there once or twice. It's a pretty town. A good friend of mine lives there, but she often says she would rather be in Kassel, where I live. I am happy to be a part of FILMSCHOOLFEST and the international competition... Unfortunately I can't come to the festival, due to another festival, which takes place at the same time.
