Meet the Filmmakers: I MADE YOU, I KILL YOU

Interview with director Alexandru Petru Badelita

Director Alexandru Petru Badelita

Describe your film I MADE YOU, I KILL YOU in three words.

I think I was mostly told that this short film is: heartfelt, colorful and sad.

Which film was the first to deeply impress you?

I have to say INCENDIES by Denis Villeneuve from 2010. It's such a powerful and emotional film.

Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?

It would be nice to work with actors who trust me, who trust the script and the reason for making the film, and who are faithful to their character. I would also love to work with actors who give a role their personal touch, I don't really enjoy directing every gesture or every blink of an eye.

If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?

I think it is a panda bear that just fell from a bamboo.

What do your grandparents think you do as a job?

Unfortunately they are not around anymore - but my grandmother always saw me as a photographer.

What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?

I think I would be an isolated poet-farmer.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the festival?

Yes, it is my first visit to Munich. I want to see short films made by other filmmakers - which is a fascinating and also intimidating experience. From the festival I am expecting to have a good time meeting the audience, receiving some feedback regarding my short, getting to know those who are part of the team.
