Meet the Filmmakers: 212
Interview with director Boaz Frankel
Director Boaz Frankel
Describe your film 212 in three words.
Life through death.
Which film was the first to deeply impress you?
The first film to deeply impress me, I think, was RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Or maybe ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES, which I saw in a movie theater when I was six.
Which actor or actress would you love to work with and why?
I have too many names in my mind. Just a few: Ed Harris, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, Lior Ashkenazi. All of them have great charisma, and I know I could learn a lot by working with them.
If your film was an animal, what animal would it be?
Scene from 212
What do your grandparents think you do as a job?
They all passed away, my film is inspired by their death, but they knew me well enough to know and understand that I'm a filmmaker.
What would you be if you weren’t a filmmaker?
A musician or an architect or a homeless.

Is this your first visit to Munich? What do you expect from the festival?
It's going to be my first time in Munich. I expect to be surprised.
