Meet the Filmmakers: TEN BUILDINGS AWAY

Interview with director Miki Polonski

Meet the Filmmakers: TEN BUILDINGS AWAY

Director Miki Polonski

What is the teaser text for your film TEN BUILDINGS AWAY?

It’s a story about my family; the way we drifted apart. The relationship between my parents affected the relationship between my brother and I.

What is the original idea of your film – how did it all start?

My film is a about people surrounded by buildings and windows, trying to live the human loneliness. The way pain passing through a family made me want to go back and look on my family. I’ve used this memory and sorrow to create my film.

What was your highlight during the process of filmmaking?

It's a hard question, each film needs its own world of emotion and imagination. I’m trying to listen and observe human loneliness and pain. These feelings wrap me while working on my films. These feelings create my work and some of the moments you can call highlights.

If you weren't a filmmaker, you'd be…?

Maybe a chef somewhere far away from here.

Is it your first time in Munich? What do you expect of the city and the festival?

It's my first time in Munich. I expect walking and listening to the streets of Munich.
