Meet the Filmmakers: EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY

Interview with director Patrick Vollrath

Meet the Filmmakers: EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY

Director Patrick Vollrath

What is the teaser text for your film EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY?

I have a synopsis, which i tried to write like a teaser text:

A divorced father picks up his eight-year-old daughter Lea.
It seems pretty much like every second weekend, but after a while Lea can‘t help feeling that something isn't right.
So begins a fateful journey.

What is the original idea of your film – how did it all start?

Everything started with a newspaper article. I read about a similiar case and then I started my research. I asked myself: How can a parent do something bad to his kid and think he is doing that out of love.

What was your highlight during the process of filmmaking?

The highlight was seeing both actors performing and becoming the characters in front of the camera.

If you weren't a filmmaker, you'd be…?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot. But I guess without filmmaking I wouldn't know what to do with my life ;)

Is it your first time in Munich? What do you expect of the city and the festival?

I lived in Munich for three years. But it is my first time at the filmfestival. I expect everything and nothing.
