Meet the Filmmakers: KEEPING BALANCE
Interview with director Bernhard Wenger
Director Bernhard Wenger
What is the teaser text for your film KEEPING BALANCE?
Denise, a 20 year old girl visits the Viennese 'Prater' amusement park almost every day to take some rides with the electronic 'Tagada' carousel because it helps her to get over her difficult past.
What is the original idea of your film – how did it all start?
I saw Denise on the Tagada and asked her how she was able to to what she does. Her answer was "I am doing this for 6 years nearly every day!"
What was your highlight during the process of filmmaking?
When I met Denise, my protagonist, I asked her, why she would like to make the film and she answered: first, it is a way of getting over all the hard things by telling them to someone, secondly she wants to show people, that no matter how hard life is, you can always find a way to get happy again!
If you weren't a filmmaker, you'd be…?
Is it your first time in Munich? What do you expect of the city and the festival?
I have been to Munich many times. Unfortunately I am not able to attend in the festival because I am shooting at this time. The best thing is that you meet so many interesting people you share the same passion with: making movies. You make connections and new friends, discover new places and watch good movies, what could be better?
