Meet the filmmakers 2014: TIDES
Interview with director Adam Breier

Describe your film TIDES in one sentence.
Breier: It is about the different ways of
self-prostitution.
What's the idea behind the film?
In Cuba due to the social situation prostitution exists in all
levels of society and not only in financial ways. I was really
interested in how families deal with this - behind the easy-going
surface.
Is it your first time in Munich and/or
Germany?
First time in Munich. I was in Berlin before. Which I loved a
lot.
What do you expect of Munich? What are you most looking
forward to?
I am really excited to meet other film students/ filmmakers from
around the world. It seems like a festival with great energy and
films.
What is your favourite movie and who's your
favourite director?
For a longtime Annie Hall was my favorite movie. I am not
sure anymore. I have great respect for John Cassavettes and Stanley
Kubrick.
Why did you want to become a filmmaker?
Love to hear and tell stories.
Who would you like to work with?
There are great many people who I would love to work with, but it
is hard to pick one. I'd rather say that I would love to make a
film with the same crew who I did Marea/Tides with because
it was just a great community experiance.
If you weren't a filmmaker, you'd be…?
Probably Depressed.... Seriously talking hopefully something
creative, but would love to do something simple and useful. Quite
the opposite of filmmaking.
