Meet the filmmakers 2014: POISON
Interview with director Roni Rainhartz

Describe your film POISON in one sentence.
The struggle of a young soldier girl coping within the Israeli
military system.
What's the idea behind the film?
The idea behind the film is our ability to make a free choice,
even when we live in a society where we are expected to behave like
everyone else and follow the rules in the name of a great
ideology.

Is it your first time in Munich and/or
Germany?
It is my first time in Munich! Third time in Germany.
What do you expect of Munich? What are you most looking
forward to?
Every visit to Germany is exciting for me because this is where my
grandparents came from. I'm looking forward to explore Munich,
meeting new people and watching their films. I think it's the best
way to get to know someone: watch his film - you'll know so much
about him.

What is your favorite movie and who's your favorite
director?
I don't know about a favorite movie, the question is too
big. But a few years ago I saw "The Hunt" by Thomas Vitenberg, it's
still stuck in my head.
Why did you want to become a filmmaker?
I don't remember really wanting to be a filmmaker, I just became
one. I guess I wanted to say something to the world and this is the
best way for me to express it.

If you weren't a filmmaker, you'd be…?
A veterinarian. For sure.
