Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute
The Indian government established the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute in 1995 as an independent academic institution under the Ministry of Information and Television/Broadcasting. The institute is based in Calcutta and is named after the legendary Calcutta-born master director of Indian cinema Satyajit Ray (1921 - 1992). The institute is the second of its kind in India. It is a national center that offers three-year postgraduate courses in film and television (directing, screenplay, camera, montage of image and sound), graduating with a diploma. In addition to these courses, the Institute plans to develop, financially support and produce film projects in the feature film and documentary sector in the future. In addition, there will be research work on topics from the film and television sector.
