The IAD was founded in 1959 and trains students for jobs in film, television, radio, multimedia and the performing arts. The IAD forms students to become professional artists who combine artistic creativity, technical skill and communication ability. Since its creation, the IAD has trained more than 2000 people for professions associated with cinema, television, radio, multimedia and theatre. The school has around 500 students each year and belongs to the Artistic Postsecondary Educational Programme (Domain of the Performing Arts, Media and Communication Techniques).
