Workshop – “Let’s Talk About Digital Production”

According to the British newspaper The Guardian, a typical film produces about 500 tons of CO2 — as much as 108 cars over the course of a year. A film with a $50 million budget produces up to 4,000 tons. A large portion of this is generated by transportation. In view of the worsening climate catastrophe, how can films be produced without net emissions? New technologies in digital production could be a starting point. But will these then have an impact on storytelling? And if so, what impact?

This topic will be the focus of a workshop titled “Let’s Talk about Digital Production”, which will include the following: “FILM-SHAPE-SHIFTING: Shoot Real Film, Including the Unreal?” — keynote speech by Michael Coldewey; “FIRST STEPS IN VIRTUAL PRODUCTION: The Current State and Future of Filmmaking at HFF Munich” by Peter C. Slansky; “BaViPro PROJECT”: Markus Zeiler, Executive Board member ARRI, will talk about ARRI and its cutting-edge technology for shooting on LED stages; “VIRTUAL PRODUCTION: A Case Study” with Dark Bay Managing Director Christina Caspers.
