MASTERCLASS WITH CASTING DIRECTOR ESTHER KLING & DIRECTOR MARIA SCHRADER
There is nothing more cinematic than raw performance. Performance is the essence of cinema, and once you can get excited about that, everything else will fall into place. But no matter how fantastic any given director may be, great directors do not ever attempt to change who an actor is on a fundamental or psychological level. Recognizing this basic truth can have a dramatic affect on your work as you will start to look at your talent differently and seek out inherent qualities in the people that you work with. It is one of the most important parts in the process of filmmaking: CASTING. We will talk with writer/director/actress Maria Schrader and casting director Esther Kling about their collaboration on UNORTHODOX as well as with writer/director and Professor for Directing Feature Film at HFF München, Julia von Heinz, about her collaboration with Esther Kling on HANNA’S JOURNEY.
The hybrid event is being held in cooperation with the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television in Tel Aviv, which Esther Kling attended and which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
