BALLAD OF THE HAPPY KIND
Moma and Simon lead their lives on the meta level. Conflicts are settled by role-playing; maintaining an ironic distance is second nature to them. They constantly try to outdo each other in their inauthenticity. But at some point, Mona is tired of this eternal “filter”. Why can’t they just honestly say what they feel for each other?

Meet the director
Louis Kempeneers
Louis Kempeneers was born in 1998 in Liege, Belgium. Ending his high school education in 2017 with option courses in expressive arts, he then began his studies at IAD with a major in directing. As part of a first master's workshop, he co-directed CLÉO ET MAX with his fellow student Solenn Crozon. The short film BALLAD OF THE HAPPY KIND is his end-of-study film.
