SCHOOL SCREENING
Media education and cultural education are essential components of school curricula. Film in particular is a major art form and a powerful one. As a film festival, FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH aims to do its part. Short films are an excellent way to give school students an insight into the lives of others, to promote their understanding of other cultures and, last but not least, to familiarize them with the diverse range of cinematic storytelling.
That’s why this year we are once again offering a program aimed explicitly at a youth audience. On three mornings, we are inviting school classes to watch films together and talk to our guest speakers about their work in film. After all, where better to introduce young audiences to the art of filmmaking than at a festival of student films? Moreover, our festival is held at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), where the great filmmakers of tomorrow are taking their first steps.
On Tuesday, November 14, and Thursday, November 16, at 9:30 am, we will be screening a selection of films from our international program. Most of the filmmakers will be attending the screenings and eager to answer questions from the school classes. This will give the young people a unique insight into the creative work of young filmmakers. The films will be shown in their original language with German subtitles. For the preparation and follow-up of this field trip, we provide teachers with educational material in advance, which they can use in discussing these films with their pupils.
On Friday, November 17, also at 9:30 am, we will be screening a selection of films by HFF students, who will also be there to have a discussion with the school classes. The focus here will be on all the things a person can study at a film school and on career opportunities in film that can be pursued without having studied film.
This offer is aimed at school students aged 14 and up.To register for these three events, contact: tobias.obermeier@filmfest-muenchen.de
