POISONED WELL

On October 12, 2022, a nineteen-year-old attacker shot and killed two people outside a gay bar in Bratislava. Taking this terrorist act as his starting point, director Radek Ševčík, himself a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, reveals in this impressive documentary the extent of the hatred and exclusion to which LGBTQIA+ people are subjected in Slovakia’s ultraconservative society. As little or nothing is being done to protect queer individuals, they are forced to take a self-defense course out of fear, as they no longer feel safe on the streets.
