It was my first real film at my first real festival and I thought: 'This is great. Make a film and win a prize.' However flattering for my ego it was, in retrospective, winning something wasn't as important as the exposure to films and to film students from different cultures. I found that the similarities of experience of other film students was far greater than the differences between us and I learned that filmmaking wasn't a race or a competition but a struggle for expression."
