GUSFD – Sweden

The School of Film Directing is part of the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg, and it is the most recent addition to film directing programmes in Sweden. The School was established in 1997.
The School of Film Directing offers two degree programmes: A Bachelor Programme in independent filmmaking – directing and producing (3 years), 180 higher education credits, and a Master Programme in independent filmmaking – directing and producing (2 years), 120 higher education credits.
The school has graduated more than 50 film directors since 1997; half women and half men.
The Programmes aim to train professional, determined and independent film directors and film makers who can express themselves in a film language of their own. The Art of Film is placed at the forefront throughout the period of study.
