Escuela de Cinematografia y del Audiovisual de la Comunidad de Madrid
In 1947, a group of intellectuals interested in the future of Spanish cinema created the Institute for Cinematographic Research and Experiment (I.I.E.C) which, in 1962, was renamed the Official Cinema School (E.O.C.).
Among its first graduate students were prominent filmmakers like Juan Antonio Bardém, Luis García Berlanga, Carlos Saura, José Luis Borau, Miguel Picazo, Pilar Miró, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and Imanol Uribe as well as many other media and cinema professionals. When the school closed in 1973, industry professionals reiterated the necessity for a professional training centre that could recapture the old E.O.C. spirit and adapt it to modern times. In 1995, ECAM (The Madrid Film and Audiovisual School) was founded to carry on this legacy. ECAM is a non-profit institution. |
