Taideteollinen korkeakoulu, Elokuvataide ja lavastustaide, Helsinki
The University of Art and Design Helsinki has for decades been the principal school for filmmakers in Finland. This role is enhanced now as the School of Motion Picture, Television and Production Design has obtained up-to-date studio and technological facilities at Media Centre Lume.
There are about 180 students studying in the School‘s various programmes, as well as 20 doctoral students, some of whom study at Elomedia, the research school for audiovisual media. In line with international practice, the program is divided into seven lines of study, each producing graduates who will occupy responsible artistic or administrative positions in production projects. Most of the studies take place within real productions, in either leading or assisting positions. Graduates of the BA programme have an automatic right to continue studies on the MA level without taking an admission test. Students require not only visual and narrative talents, but also good social skills and preferably experience as well that supports their major subject studies. |
